As the world marks International Women’s Day, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has stressed the need for enhanced gender friendly environments that would encourage more females to excel in their chosen careers.

The Speaker while acknowledging the remarkable achievements of some Nigeria women in global affairs record, stated that greater involvement of women in nation’s building, was capable of engendering peace and development in the society.

Guwor who is the National Treasurer, Conference of Speakers of the States Houses of Assembly, stressed the need for more policies and programmes that would promote women’s participation in every aspect of human endeavours and meaningful engagements.

He noted that the theme of this year’s celebration “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”, with an emphasis on tackling women’s economic disempowerment, was apt and a call for more attention in that regard.

The Speaker in a statement by his Chief Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, rejoiced with the womenfolk, particularly Delta women on the historic global celebration.

Guwor urged the women to remain supportive to the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and never be distracted in their resolve to promoting peaceful and a more prosperous Delta State.

He said the MORE agenda of the state government has a lot in stock for the women, in line with the Governor’s commitment at ensuring that no segment of the society was left out in his all inclusive governance.
