Speaker Guwor Admonishes Delta Students To Take Studies Serious

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor has admonished students across the State to take their studies seriously and make the best use of the educational opportunity as provided by the State government, parents and schools for a better and secured future as he played host to students and staff of Havenpoint High School Asaba, Delta State.

While explaining the role and responsibilities of the State legislature in a democratic system of governance to the staff and students, Rt. Hon. Guwor used the occasion to appeal to the students to shun all anti-social activities and acts capable of jeopardizing their dreams and that of their parents for a better future. Rather, they should apply themselves to the primary purpose for which huge investment is being committed to their education as the period should be geared towards developing themselves and make career decisions.

“As students, it is important you realize and take advantage of the opportunities and choices ahead of you. Your parents and Guidance are today investing money, time and other resources in order for you to have a bright future. Therefore, you must take seriously your education which is a booster to open doors and to a world of opportunities and pride to your parents. This period of your life, is a time to develop yourselves and make career decision which must be put to Judicious use” he stated.

The leader of the team, Mrs Florence Chienumuya, HOD Humanity, appreciated the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Guwor Dennis Emomotimi, Principal Officers and honourable members for the opportunities to attend and observe the house plenary and said it was not just an eye opening and informative outing to the students only but also to staff that accompanied them.

The staff and students of Havenpoint High School, Asaba were later conducted on a guided tour of several departments in the assembly complex.
