National Secretary of the revered Ogulagha Kingdom Youth Council, OKYC, Comr. Efe Alaye has lamented over the series of abandoned projects by the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, in Obotobo 2 Community.
Alaye, who lament over the series of abandoned projects in the community, states that it is heartbreaking, appalling, and highly disheartening seeing abandoned projects all over the community. When the community alone is a major contributor to the Delta State coffers and the federation account.
In his open letter to the Chairman Hon John Obukowho Nani and Commissioner representing Ijaw ethnic nationality, Hon Spencer Okpoye, Alaye said that the abandoned projects should be given swift attention and the continuation and completion of the various projects be done inorder to enable the people put them into good use with immediate effect.
He further enumerated the abandoned projects as follows;
1. The Obotobo 2 Community Town hall – uncompleted
2. Three (3) bedroom bungalow – uncompleted
3. Hospital project – abandoned
4. Two (2) of two bedroom bungalow project – uncompleted
Alaye urges the Desopadec board to do the needful and ensure the completion of those projects, noting that the people of Obotobo Community which is a host to North Bank Flowstation with several oil wells as well as North Bank Gas Station should not be taken for granted.
The letter reads in parts…
“With deep sense of humility, Mr. Chairman, I write to make demand for the good people of Obotobo 2 Community over the series of abandoned DESOPADEC projects bedeviling the community.
“It is disheartening to state that over four (4) DESOPADEC projects in the community is yet to be completed and worst still, is being abandoned.
“I enjoined the board to come on ground and see things for themselves and fish out the contractors as well as paying them to ensure the completion.
“Such projects when completed will serve as infrastructural development and progress for the community. He added
