Former NUIS National President, Awipi Lawson Declares Interest For IYC National Spokesman

Aspirant for the National Spokesman of the revered Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Worldwide, Comr. Awipi Peibulou Lawson has officially declared his interest to run for the Spokesman office in the 9th NEC.

Lawson who has started his consultations to critical stakeholders and leaders of Council states that he is fit and well able to for the job, raging from his vast leadership experience on Ijaw matters and issues of the Niger Delta.

Comrade Lawson Peibulou Awipi is an indigene of Bomadi Town in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State. He is a graduate of Political Science at the prestigious Delta State University, Abraka in 2013. He also holds a Masters degree in Public Administration in the University of Benin in 2017.

Awipi, kick-started his activism right from his school days. In 2010, he was elected as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National Union of Izon-ebe Students (NUIS) COE Chapter, Warri, Delta State.

While serving as that, he use his position to advocate and defend the interest of Ijaw Students in campus.
His radical advocacy and outright doggedness for the Ijaw course took him to the position of President, National Union of Izon-ebe Students (NUIS), Worldwide in 2013.

As National President of all Ijaw student, Lawson, took Ijaw students to the streets and protest the injustice melted on Niger Delta. As if that was not enough, Lawson mobilize Ijaw students and to Abuja with coaster buses to block the highly respected National Assembly complex, which drew the attention of the international community.

At the eve of his tenure, Awipi organized an “All Ijaw Cultural” programme where Ijaw Students all over Nigeria gathered in Ijaw House in Bayelsa State to call on the Nigerian Government on the issues bedeviling Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta.

Awipi’s struggle for the betterment of Ijaw Nation wax stronger by the day as he became an active member of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, after graduation.

His passionate patriotism, Ijaw nationalism and spirit of Boroism further catapulted him to the office of Information Officer, IYC Western Zone, in 2018. Where he spoke loudly, fearlessly, intrepidly by given the zone a quality representation.

Lawson, is imbued with the spirit of ijawism, he has the leadership expertise as an advocate and activist. If given the mandate, he will do more for Ijaw Nation.

It is time we save Ijaw Youth Council from total collapse and raise the banner to the comity of nations in the world just like our founding fathers.

It is time to demonstrate with full force, the Boroic tenets and speak boldly, loudly and with intrepidity to the powers that be, for the betterment of Ijaw Nation.
