Hon. Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo has joined Nigerians at home and in the diaspora in celebrating the 66th anniversary of the nation’s independence, calling on citizens, particularly constituents within his constituency, to remain committed to the ideals of a united, peaceful, prosperous and progressive Nigeria.

In his Independence Day message, Hon. Ebitonmo described the 66th anniversary as an important moment for reflection, thanksgiving and renewed commitment to the Nigerian project. He acknowledged that while the country has faced significant challenges over the years, Nigeria has continued to demonstrate resilience, strength and an enduring capacity for progress.

According to him, Independence Day should not merely be viewed as a celebration of the past, but also as an opportunity to renew faith in the future and recommit ourselves to the responsibilities that come with nationhood.

“At 66, Nigeria has every reason to reflect on the journey so far, appreciate the sacrifices of our founding fathers and renew our collective commitment to building a nation that works for all. Our challenges are real, but so are our opportunities. We must continue to believe in Nigeria and contribute positively to her growth and development.”

Hon. Ebitonmo urged his constituents to remain steadfast and hopeful, stressing that meaningful development requires the collective efforts of government, communities, traditional institutions, young people, women, professionals, entrepreneurs and every responsible citizen.

He appealed to constituents not to lose hope in the face of economic and social difficulties, but to continue supporting initiatives that promote peace, development, opportunity and the wellbeing of the people.

He further emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence, noting that Nigeria’s diversity remains an important part of its identity and strength.

“Whatever our differences in background, language, culture or political affiliation, we remain one people with a shared destiny. We must therefore reject division, embrace dialogue and continue to work together for the peace and development of our communities and our country,” he said.

The legislator also called on young Nigerians to remain committed to acquiring knowledge, developing useful skills, embracing entrepreneurship and contributing meaningfully to society. He described the youth as critical stakeholders in shaping the future of Nigeria and urged them to approach the future with courage, discipline and optimism.

He equally encouraged community leaders and constituents to continue supporting peaceful and constructive engagement, emphasizing that sustainable development is best achieved when citizens participate actively in the affairs of their communities.

Hon. Ebitonmo reaffirmed his commitment to the interests and aspirations of his constituents, assuring them that their hopes, concerns and developmental needs remain important. He called for continued cooperation and collective responsibility in addressing challenges and pursuing opportunities that can improve the quality of life across the constituency.

He expressed appreciation to constituents for their support, resilience and confidence, while urging them to remain prayerful and optimistic about the future.

“As we celebrate Nigeria at 66, let us remember that the task of building our nation belongs to all of us. Let us continue to believe, continue to work and continue to hope. The Nigeria we desire will require patience, sacrifice, unity and the determination to do what is right.”

He concluded by extending warm Independence Day greetings to Nigerians and particularly to the people of his constituency, praying for continued peace, prosperity, good health and progress for every family.

Happy 66th Independence Anniversary, Nigeria.

May our nation continue to grow in peace, unity, prosperity and hope.
