Winners of the 13th edition of the online essay competition organized by the office of the Director, New Media to the Governor, have been presented with their prizes.
The 13th edition with the topic, “Good Governance:The Prosperity strides for sustainability in Bayelsa State” was won by Oki Ayibaikie Samuel, a 300 level Law student of the University of Calabar, from Oki-ama in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
The second position was won by Christian Ikiens Baptist, while the third position was won by Okoye Tonbara Adeze.
Consolation prices were also won by Abili Isaac Amaegberi Ayebatonteye and Timipere Seiyefa Enahoro.
Presenting the prizes in Government House, Yenagoa, one of the judges, Dr. Sophia Obi, thanked the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri for sustaining the engaging competition.
She also thanked the Director New Media to the Governor, Dr. Kolawole Oredipe for initiating the competition, stating that it has engaged Bayelsa youths in higher institutions meaningfully, and made them to be part of the prosperity government.
Another judge in the competition, Dr. Ikiemoye Iniamagha encouraged more Bayelsa students to get involved in the essay competition to broaden their knowledge base.
He further stated that, since the competition started, it has given more youths knowledge of the programmes and policies of the prosperity government.
Highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of certificate of participation to the winners with the champion going home with the sum of N200,000.00.
