As the race for local Government Chairmanship elections in Delta state begins, several political actors and dramatist personae have indicated interest to be the next Burutu Local Government Council Chairman.
This to a very large extent has heated up the polity as several aspirants has went on either Consultative or courtesy visit to political and party bigwigs, leaders and stakeholders.
However, renowned Niger Delta Activist, Youth advocate and social crusader, Comr Keneware Emmanuel popularly known as the ‘Pentiger’ has state that Ward 11 and particularly the Ogulagha Kingdom should be the next to produce the next Burutu Local Government Council Chairman.
In an open letter sent to the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, Keneware advocated that aside being the fact that the kingdom is the highest producer of the liquid gold as well as highest source of revenue in the local Government, it has not produce the Council Chairman since the creation of Burutu Local Government in 1976.
The letter reads in part…
“Your Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, I wish to heartily applaud you for your groundbreaking strides since assumption of office.
Your infrastructural developmental strides is laudable and highly commended as it is second to none.
“However, as the local Government elections draws closer. Being the leader of our party and the state, I wish to appeal to you to consider Ogulagha Kingdom indigene as the next Burutu Council Chairman.
“This is so because the Ogulagha people hasn’t feel the impact of the local Government since it’s existence. It will therefore be only fair, just, equitable and people oriented if this 2024 Council Chairman is elected from there.
“As you are aware sir, there are more aspirants vying for the Council Chairman office in Ogulagha Kingdom than others. This only means that the people had already gotten the political mindset and will that it is their turn to produce the next Council Chairman, since they have being Political shortchanged and alienated for too long.
“Your Excellency, I wholeheartedly wish to appeal to you to use your good office to nominate a credible candidate among them, one with party credentials and leadership acumen to lead the Burutu people inline with your M.O.R.E agenda in the distribution of democratic dividends.
“Once again, your Excellency, I will to pay barrels of appreciation for your laudable and tangible projects across the state and I pray that you do justice to this issue by correcting the political anomaly in the local Government.
