Hensard University, Bayelsa State’s first private university, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to expand its academic offerings with 16 new undergraduate programmes. This significant milestone underscores the university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
The newly approved programmes include:
1. MBBS – Medicine and Surgery
2. B.NSc. – Nursing Science
3. B.Eng. – Mechanical Engineering
4. B.Eng. – Mechatronics Engineering
5. B.Eng. – Civil Engineering
6. B.Eng. – Electrical and Electronics Engineering
7. B.Eng. – Petroleum and Gas Engineering
8. B.Eng. – Marine Engineering
9. B.Sc. – Anatomy
10. B.Sc. – Physiology
11. B.Sc. – Complementary and Alternative Medicine
12. B.HIM. – Health Information Management
13. B.MLS. – Medical Laboratory Science
14. B.Sc. – Physiotherapy
15. B.Sc. – Public Health
16. B.Sc. – Radiography
This approval was confirmed in a letter signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning at the NUC.
Additionally, in an earlier communication dated January 22, 2025, the NUC granted approval for 14 other full-time programmes, which include:

With these recent approvals, Hensard University now offers 59 programmes across 12 faculties, including Agriculture, Business, Education, Engineering, Medicine, and Sciences.
Admissions Now Open for 2024/2025
Prospective students and parents interested in enrolling for the 2024/2025 academic session are encouraged to apply. Opportunities are also available for students who wish to transfer to Hensard University.
