The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has delivered a unanimous landmark judgment dismissing the appeal instituted by the self-acclaimed “IYC Authentic President,” Dr. Alaye Theophilus & 10 Ors. against Sir Jonathan Moses Lokpobiri Snr. & 10 Ors.

In its well-considered judgment, the Honourable Justices, after a critical examination of the records and submissions presented before the Court, upheld the arguments canvassed by Learned Counsel to the Respondents, Ebilade Obiri, Esq., and consequently dismissed the appeal in its entirety.

Furthermore, the Court awarded a cost of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦500,000.00) against the Appellants, Dr. Tari Alaye Theophilus and others, in favour of Sir Jonathan Moses Lokpobiri Snr., as a legal consequence of the unsuccessful appeal.

This landmark judgment sends a strong message against acts capable of undermining the constitutional processes and democratic structures of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide. It also reaffirms that no individual can legitimately assume the office of President of the Council outside the established electoral procedures, including the purchase of nomination forms and participation in a duly conducted election.

The judgment equally serves as a deterrent against attempts to create unconstitutional precedents capable of destabilizing the unity and integrity of the Ijaw Nation.

Ordinary, the self acclaimed Dr. Alaye Theophius, need to be arrested and prosecuted for impersonation and obstruction of council business because of greed and corruption.

By this landmark judgment, Dr Alaye Theophilus and his co-travellers can no longer parade themselves as members of the NEC of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Worldwide.

Nevertheless, Congratulations to the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide and the entire Ijaw Nation.
