…Calls On Niger Delta Representatives In Abuja To Contribute To The Development Of The Region.
The President of Ijaw Youth Council, IYC Worldwide, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr, has given the Federal Government a one week ultimatum to commence genuine efforts to fix the broken parts of the East-West road, or risk shutting down the Niger Delta region.
The IYC President who made this known while speaking at the opening of the Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit, organised in Port Harcourt, last week, said while they appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinibu, for the idea of the Coastal Road project, abandoning the East-West road that is the immediate need of the Niger Delta people, is totally unacceptable.
Jonathan Lokpobiri, who commended the MD/CEO of NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, for organising such a laudable program, said the IYC will ensure that they follow up resolutions reached in the Niger Delta Stakeholeders Summit until they are duly implimented.
The President who called on the NDDC to organise such programs from time to time, also advised the youths of Niger Delta to take advantage of the program to discuss their problems and come up with far reaching resolutions.
While stating that the problems of the Niger Delta are quite enormous and the NDDC alone, which is only an interventionist agency, can not handle all of them. Lokpobiri, also use the oportunity to call on all sons and daughters of Niger Delta that are representing the region at the federal level, to intentionally contribute to the growth of Niger Delta.
