.. As Ag. National Chairman insists Bayelsa, Imo, Kogi remain PDP States
… Gov. Diri says performance will earn him 80 percent victory
The Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),
Umar Damagum, has inaugurated the 122-members National Campaign Council for the November 11 Governorship election in Bayelsa State headed by Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State.
Senator Chinedu Nwoko from Delta State will serve as Deputy Council Chairman while a former member of House of Representatives from Anambra State, Hon. Gabriel Onyenwife, will serve as Secretary.
On the occasion, the three candidates were also presented with their party’s Certificate of Returns.
The Acting National Chairman expressed the confidence that the PDP will win the three states of Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo in the election.
“Members of these campaign council for the three states are carefully selected to go and deliver. We expect nothing short of outright victory. Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo are PDP states somehow Kogi and Imo strayed into the opposition, but we will retrieve them back to our great party, PDP. Check the states governed by PDP, you will see development and good governance”, Damagum stated.
Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State who is seeking re-election, Senator Dino Melaye, PDP guber candidate in Kogi State and Senator Sam Anyanwu, Imo State PDP guber candidate were all in attendance.
Later in an interview, Governor Diri, said he would be re-elected based on the great testimonies of the people on the sterling performance of his administration in the past three years in different sectors, insisting that PDP remains the dominant party in Bayelsa State.
“If you get to Bayelsa today, you will marvel at what we have done in 3 years. PDP will win Bayelsa squarely. We have no internal crisis within our party in the State. The party is very vibrant and I can tell you that if election is conducted today, PDP will win almost 80 per cent of the votes”, Gov. Diri stated.
