Paramount Ruler Bans illegal Oil Bunkering Activities in His Kingdom

The paramount ruler of Ibaa and Obelle Communities in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Wobodo Jonah, has read riot act to those involved in illegal oil bunkering activities in the communities.

Eze Jonah who addressed the entire Ibaa people during a gathering with his council of Chiefs and elders and other opinion leaders threatened that henceforth, anyone caught involved in illegal oil bunkering will be apprehended and handed over to law enforcement agencies.

The Nye-Wey Ali Ibaa and Obelle said he does not want further loss of lives and properties of the people hence the stance against illegal activities, warning those who think Ibaa is a place to do illegal activities to know that the end has come.

The royal father while commiserating with the families of those that lost their loved ones, urged representative of the villages to take the message of the end of bunkering activities to members of their family while a town crier will be directed to circulate the resolution, and that defaulters risk being arrested and prosecuted.

In the early hours of Monday over fifty persons were reported to have been affected by fire explosion from site of illegal oil refining product with at least thirty persons including a pregnant woman losing their lives.

Report also revealed that some of the victims were burnt beyond recognition.
