Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri alongside his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, today voted at Kalama-owei in Sampou community, Kolokuma/Opokuma in the ongoing Local Government council election in the State.

Governor Diri voted in Ward 6, polling Unit 4 in the community.

The Governor who described the voting process as hitch-free, said the reports reaching him from various centres showed that the election was largely peaceful.

“The voting was peaceful and seamless here. I think if it’s like this in every unit and ward, we expect a peaceful local government election that will usher in a new leadership of the local government in the state.

I am expecting immense turnout from voters. This is because chairmanship and councillorship elections is the closest to the people. I also remember during our party nomination and campaign processes, the level of interests it generated, clearly shows people are interested in the election.

Clearly, build up to this election, the party that went out campaigning across all wards and local government areas was my party, PDP. We have candidates in all the wards and local government areas. So, by the grace of God and support of the people, I am very confident PDP will win landslide”, Gov. Diri stated.
