The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed has advised Corps Members to accept their posting to places of primary assignment in good faith and settle down to contribute their quota to national development.
He said the period of national service is a time when all Corps Members are expected to showcase the ideals of NYSC which centers on patriotism, integrity, efficiency, transparency and commitment.
Ahmed gave the advice today while addressing Corps Members at NYSC Cross River State Orientation Camp in Obubra.
“Accept your posting in good faith and quickly settle down in your host communities to contribute to their development.
Choose either personal or group Community Development Service project and initiate projects that would impact positively on the lives of your hosts.
Also try to add value to yourselves by learning a skill through the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme and become job creators at the end of your service year”, the DG said.
General Ahmed also warned the Corps Members against improper dressing, especially while in NYSC uniform, adding that anyone caught violating the Scheme’s approved dress code would be sanctioned.
While presenting the Orientation Camp brief to the Director General, the NYSC Cross River State Coordinator, Mr Andrew Zemoh said the entire 1,422 Corps Members comprising 696 male and 726 female have been participating actively in all camp activities with special interest in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training.
