Prominent political leaders from Sagbama Constituency 3 in Bayelsa State have resigned from the PDP, pledging full support for Governor Douye Diri following his recent exit from the party.
Those who announced their resignation include the member representing Sagbama Constituency 3 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Ebizi Ndiomu, the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Maxwell Ebibai, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, High Chief Collins Cocodia, among other stakeholders.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Yenagoa, Hon. Ebizi Ndiomu said the collective resignation was in solidarity with Governor Diri’s decision, describing him as a visionary leader who has demonstrated uncommon commitment to the development of Bayelsa State.
She noted that Governor Diri’s leadership had brought visible progress to all parts of Sagbama Constituency 3, adding that his decision would usher in greater prosperity for the people.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Maxwell Ebibai, said their decision to leave the PDP was a show of loyalty and alignment with the Governor’s political direction.
“The Governor has taken a decision, and as leaders, we need to align with his position,” Ebibai stated.
Similarly, High Chief Collins Cocodia, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, said following the Governor’s path was in the best interest of their constituency and the entire state.
Other key figures at the meeting included Hon. Alfred Kemepado, Commissioner for Youth Development; Ambassador Felix Oboro, former Secretary to the State Government; Chief Prosper Nwaguzo, Pioneer Assembly Member for Sagbama Constituency 3; Hon. Johnson Mirin, Commissioner in the State Civil Service Commission; Chief Kemi Prefa, former Commissioner for Youth and Sports; and Mrs. Josephine Ezonbuodo, former Commissioner for Education, alongside ward councillors and other stakeholders.
The group collectively reaffirmed their unwavering support for Governor Diri’s leadership and expressed optimism that his next political move would further advance Bayelsa’s development agenda.
