His Excellency, Bola, Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
State House,
FCT, Abuja.
Sir,
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO EMBARK ON A MASS PEACEFUL PROTEST ACROSS THE NIGER DELTA REGION.
The Niger Delta Civil Liberty Organization (NDCLO) has been awatch with utter consternation, of the sorry and pitiable living conditions Nigerians have been subjected to, occasioned b,y amongst other things, high cost of living, insecurity, extremely low standard of living etcetera.
It has become commonplace that the anti people policies of Your Excellency have worked untold hardship on the masses, and the Federal Government is overly lukewarm and unperturbed over the sufferings, yearnings and/or plights of Nigerians.
Sadly, it is note worthy that, the Federal Government is not making any effort towards ameliorating these deplorable and sorry situations, despite the persistent reverberating hue and cry from the impoverished, defenceless and/or vulnerable Nigerians, severely appealing to Your Excellency to save the citizenry from this debacle.
Consequently, it is against this backdrop that we hereby give Your Excellency/Federal Government this notice to embark on a mass peaceful protest in the region, to further express and register our discontent over the deplorable state of things in the country. Pursuant to Section 40 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, (as amended). Thus, make the following demands, to wit:
1.Reversion of petroleum prices: reduction of prices of all petroleum products to at least N200 per litre.
2.The issue of security: Insecurity in the Nation should be completely curbed/addressed.
3.Prices of food items and other chattels/merchandise: prices of food stuffs as well as other commodities should be moderately reduced/controlled.
4.Direct Oil Companies to implement Chapter 3 of the Petroleum Industry Act, which expressly deals with Host communities Development.
5.Direct Oil Exploration Companies to as a matter of urgency clean up polluted waters and lands in the Niger Delta region, occasioned by their oil exploration activities.
6.Compel Oil Companies to adequately and promptly compensate victims/communities affected by oil spillage.
7.Compel all contractors handling Federal project anywhere in the Niger Delta region to mobilize to site, commence work posthaste and ensure 100 per cent completion of such projects, as we have set machineries in motion to ensure stringent and effective monitoring of all abandoned projects in the region.
8. Direct the Inspector General of Police to completely eschew from the extortionate, exploitative and unlawful E-Central Motor Registration (CMR) exercise, as no law empowers him to so act.
Our planned peaceful protest is slated to commence on 1st of August, 2024, this is in congruence/agreement with the nationwide protest.
TAKE NOTICE that: we shall, without further recourse to you mobilize all our members, structures and other support groups cut across the Nine (9) Niger Delta States and showdown all Federal Roads, dwell there until all our demands enumerated above are holistically addressed.
