The Rivers Progressive Alliance has declared that Suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains firmly in control of the political structure across the 319 wards in Rivers State.
Speaking on behalf of the Alliance, Hon. Meshach Alaputa stated that a closely monitored Easter initiative reaffirmed Governor Fubara’s deep-rooted connection with the people at the grassroots. According to him, the 2025 Easter celebrations sparked widespread excitement across the State as the Governor extended goodwill to all 319 wards with the donation of one cow and ₦1 million to each,a gesture that resonated deeply across all 23 Local Government Areas.
The Easter festivities were anchored at the Simplified Movement’s State Secretariat in Port Harcourt, where party faithful and leaders gathered in celebration and gratitude. Addressing the gathering, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie described the occasion as both a celebration of Christ’s resurrection and a moment of reflection on the Governor’s compassionate leadership.
“This is more than a festive season, it is a demonstration of love, unity, and people-first governance,” he said. “Governor Fubara’s commitment to ensuring every ward feels the spirit of Easter shows his unwavering dedication to the people of Rivers State.”
From PHALGA to Asari-Toru, ONELGA to Ahoada West, the same spirit of gratitude echoed across Rivers State.
In Buguma City, the Easter celebration drew a large crowd. Rt. Hon. Orolosama Peter Amachree, former CTC Chairman, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Governor. “This Governor is not just a leader but a father to us,” he said, referencing ongoing developmental projects like the Trans-Kalabari Road and the Buguma-Abalama-Degema-Abonnema Road. “The Egyptian we see today, we shall see no more. Our people’s Governor will return to the Brick House.”
In Ndoni Wards 13, 14, and 15, residents received the Governor’s Easter largesse with joy. In addition, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Odili Oreh, political leader of the Ndoni District, provided supplementary support: three cows, 120 bags of salt, and 148 bottles of groundnut oil. A grand prayer and empowerment session on Wednesday, April 23, brought together nearly 200 women, coordinators, and ward executives who prayed for Rivers State, Nigeria, and the Governor’s swift return to office.
Prince Isaac Umejuru, who visited all 17 wards in ONELGA, described the atmosphere as one filled with “undiluted joy, appreciation, and solidarity for Governor Fubara.” He also hosted residents for the Easter gift distribution.
On April 19, Simplified Movement leaders in PHALGA reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Fubara, applauding his gifts to all 20 wards. They condemned the declaration of a state of emergency in the state and rejected the appointments made by Vice Admiral Ibas (Rtd), calling on President Tinubu to lift the suspension and reinstate the Governor.
Celebrations held in several wards of Obio-Akpor LGA were marked with enthusiasm. In Ward One, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo applauded the Governor for his generosity and highlighted the recent award of the Oro-Igwe Road contract as further proof of the Governor’s commitment.
In Ikwerre LGA, women dressed in red and white turned out in large numbers, celebrating the Governor’s Easter gesture and offering prayers for his reinstatement. Leaders, including Sir Mike Elechi, hosted supporters at his residence, reaffirming unwavering support for the Governor.
At the Akinima headquarters of Ahoada West LGA, Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari, House of Assembly member, praised the Governor for his inclusive leadership. He also added ₦1 million and a cow for non-indigenes in the LGA, describing Fubara’s governance as “one that unites all residents, regardless of origin.”
This year’s Easter across Rivers State was marked not just by religious observance but by unity, renewed hope, and deep appreciation for Governor Siminalayi Fubara. His generous outreach has left an indelible mark on the hearts of Rivers people, strengthening his image as a compassionate, people-driven leader.
The celebration across all LGAs and wards was a clear message: Rivers people stand with Governor Fubara and call on the President to reinstate him without delay so he can continue the transformational projects he has begun across the state.
