Rivers State business mogul, statesman, and prominent leader, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, has been honored with the prestigious Lifetime Africa Achievement Award by the Millennium Excellence Foundation, in recognition of his leadership, service, and contributions to African unity and development.
Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs received the Lifetime Africa Achievement Award for Traditional Leadership and Business Excellence at a grand and colorful ceremony commemorating the Foundation’s 25th anniversary held at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, Ghana, on May 10, 2025.
Other notable Nigerians recognized at the event included President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Dr. Benedict Oramah, President of the African Export-Import Bank, who received the Global Intra-Africa Trade Excellence Award; Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, honored for Governance and Public Service; and Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group, recognized for Excellence in Business.
The Millennium Excellence Foundation, with the revered Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as its Patron, was established in 1998 to celebrate and promote excellence in leadership, governance, and development across Africa. It honors individuals who have significantly contributed to the continent’s growth and global standing.
Opuda (Alabo) Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the Iniikeiroari VI of Kalabari Kingdom and Paramount Head of the Oruwari Briggs House of Abonnema, Rivers State, now joins a prestigious circle of past laureates of the Lifetime Africa Achievement Award, which includes Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Professor Wole Soyinka, President Cyril Ramaphosa, and Dr. Mo Ibrahim, among other celebrated African icons.
