Burutu Local Government is widely accepted to be one of the oldest, largest, populated and wealthiest local Government in Delta State and by extension Nigeria.
Officially Created in 1976 during the local Government reforms. Comfortably housing over 77 autonomous communities, over 10 kingdoms (including Zadobiri and Kou Delta).
It is politically divided into two State Constituencies (Burutu North and South) and a homogeneous Federal Constituency of its own.
Burutu is big enough to be Shared 3 three local Government Area but the powers that be would not let it.
Since it’s creation, it has been ruled by over thirty five (35) chairmen including Caretaker.
However, in recent times aside the Dr. Braduce Angozi’s administration of 1999 to 2002.
The most impactful, reigning and mind-blowing administration is that of Hon Godknows Angele. Who is currently the Honourable Commissioner for Housing.
Angele, who broke history and became the first to serve two term of six (6) years. During his tenure in office, Angele initiate and complete projects like a store Councillors lodge, HPM’s residence, Treasurer to the LGA residence, health centres among others.
His administration ushered a euphoric glee of stomach infrastructure, where every nooks and crannies were touched via monthly stipend including a large harvest of women.
The Angele’s stomach infrastructure empowerment was loudly lauded as it gives smile and laughter to the common man every month end.
Soon, Angele became a household name in Burutu local Government.
Whenever, he visits, a large turnout of people receive him dramatizing his acceptability.
Angele, down-to-earth, is humility personified, see and takes everyone as one. Plays with the little, young, and old. Eat and drink with the poor, downtrodden and was loved by all.
His elevation to Commissioner and Member of the State Executive Council, SEC, was widely celebrated.
Infact, Angele became the most celebrated Commissioner in the history of Burutu Politics.
His demise from Burutu Council was greatly missed as a result of his enduring legacies and lasting impact.
Despite the fact that he’s no more there, his appearance in Burutu spark and arouses mammoth crowd, particularly women.
He indeed left a big shoe for his successors.
Takeme’s Triumphal Emergence
Chief Dr Julius Takeme, is the Olotu of Obotebe Kingdom, an astute politician and seasoned administrator. A former Caretaker Chairmen, Burutu Council, former Commissioner for Urban Renewal and immediate past Senatorial Chairman, PDP Delta South.
Takeme, ranging from his Political antecedents could best fit-in to Angele’s shoe and lay for Burutu Council a big shoe for his successors as a result of his result oriented leadership.
Takeme’s emergence was divine as it was never thought of or imagine by even a prophet. Without interest or ambition, he was miraculous announced as God’s anointed to take Burutu to an enviable height.
Takeme could best complete Angele giant strides and do even more because firstly, the hand of God is upon him, and of course his political capacity speaks in volume and intensity.
Takeme is the new face of Burutu Council.
Expectations are high from the people but he will certainly take Burutu to a higher height.
