The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has approved the nomination of Peter Pereotubo Akpe as the new Deputy Governor for the state.
Akpe’s nomination follows the passing of Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo who died on December 11, 2025.
Until his appointment, Akpe, an ordained pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) was the chief of staff to the governor of Bayelsa State.
Having also served in both the Rivers and Bayelsa State Civil Services, Akpe was a former member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
He served as Commissioner during the administration of former Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Seriake Dickson.
