The University of Port Harcourt has announced a total ban on the traditional “sign-out” activities by final-year students.

In a statement issued by the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. C. C. Wokocha, the university prohibited signing on T-shirts, parading with security escorts, and gatherings of final-year students after exams. Parents and guardians were also advised to stay away from examination venues.

The management warned that any student or group found violating the directive will face the Students Disciplinary Committee. Photographers setting up platforms for sign-out will also be arrested.

The ban takes immediate effect from October 2, 2025.
