Renowned Ijaw patriot and CEO of Maritime Media LTD, Elder Asu Beks has charged Ijaw leaders to be truly accommodating to their kit and kin while in public office.

Beks make this call at the maiden Ijaw conference hosted by the Ijaw Publishers Forum, held in Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, Government House Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
According to him party allegiance are now used by fellow Ijaw brothers to deny others benefits whereas, they free give same benefits to other tribes. This is disheartening, he said.

He opined that the Sen Douye Diri, who is the current Governor of Bayelsa State and Hon Kingsley Kuku, a former chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Program are the best two sons of Ijaw Nation that have truly showcase the Ijaw spirit to the peak. Urging other Ijaw sons and daughters to adopt their models of leadership.

“I refer every patriotic Ijaw son and daughter who occupy critical public office to adopt the Hon Kingsley Kuku and Sen. Douye Diri models of politics without bitterness. When Kingsley Kuku was Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Program, his doors were open 24/7 to every Ijaw son and daughter. Discrimination against a fellow Ijaw was no where close to his DNA. But this spirit died the moment he left office.

“Another Apostle of Politics without bitterness is Sen. Douye Diri, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State. He stands out as the most accommodating Governor of our time. In his present cabinet, all members of the 18 political parties are accommodated. He is a sterling example of politics without bitterness”.

Elder Asu Beks was also given the Ernest Ikoli Media award of Honour in recognition of his outstanding role in creating a speaking space in the media industry.
