The Delta State Board of Internal Revenue Service, IRS, has encouraged Deltans to pay their taxes as that would help the state government in its drive for accelerated infrastructural development.

Executive Chairman of the board, Hon (Chief) Solomon Ighrakpata made the call when officials of the revenue service appeared before the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation for its budget defence.

Hon Ighrakpata represented by the Executive Director Operation, Dr Sam Nwaogu, explained that the state government in 2024 made effective use of tax payers money for the development of the state.

While commending the State Legislature for standing by the board, the former Lawmaker appreciated state recognized whistle blowers, and security outfits for collaboration.

Hon Ighrakpata said in 2025 the board intends to motivate companies who had been faithful with their taxes and asked the defaulting companies not to stretch government patience further.

The IRS board Chairman expressed optimism that come 2025, Deltans should be assured of more infrastructures across the state.

The budget defence session was presided over by the Chairman, Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation and member representing Ika North East Constituency, Hon Marylyn Okowa-Daramola, flanked by other members of the Committee.
