Rivers Governor Fubara Seeks Military Collaboration To Combat Pipeline Vandalism

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has called on the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, to collaborate with his administration in tackling pipeline vandalism and economic sabotage in the state.

The governor made this appeal during a courtesy visit by Major General Emekah to the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday, February 18, 2025.

Governor Fubara underscored the need to protect critical national infrastructure in Rivers State, describing it as the “Treasure Base of the Nation.” He emphasized that the state’s oil production is vital to Nigeria’s economic stability, making it imperative to safeguard these resources from criminal activities.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security, the governor pledged full support for the military’s efforts to curb pipeline vandalism and maintain peace in the South-South region. He assured Major General Emekah that his government would provide all necessary assistance to ensure the success of his mission.

In response, Major General Emekah described his visit as part of military tradition and expressed gratitude to the governor for fostering an enabling environment for army operations in the state.

He pledged to prioritize the protection of critical national infrastructure in the maritime and oil sectors while ensuring security across the South-South region.
