The 10th Rivers State House of Assembly has been described as the worst in the history of state legislature in Nigeria since the inception of democratic and civilian rule in 1999.
Speaking via a press briefing in Port Harcourt, State capital of Rivers State, Nigeria. Renowned Niger Delta Activist and social crusader, Comr Keneware Emmanuel, popularly and widely known as the ‘Pentiger’ has tackled the 10th Rivers State Assembly, tagging them as the worst performing State Assembly in Nigeria.
He opines that since their inauguration in office in 2023, they have done nothing other than dance to the tune of political godfather and celebrate sycophancy.
According to him, ‘it is a high level of irresponsibility that State assembly members shant and dance to political godfatherism in the open, neglecting their primary role has lawmakers duly elected to represent their people.
‘A legislature that have not pass any bill to law, instead, keep celebrating political sycophancy in the hallow chambers.
The only bill they have ever brought to the house is how to impeach the Governor of the State to fulfill their godfather’s quest, taste, hunger and desperation for power.
‘The Martins Chike Amaewhule’s led Rivers State assembly has brought nothing but legislative rascality and recklessness, open celebration of political sycophancy and godfatherism, lingering political impasse, and continued tension in the state.
It is pathetic that Speaker Martins Amaewhule has added little or nothing to legislative beauty and sagacity since inception.
“Instead, he has brought shame and inglorious reign to the Rivers People, desecrating the hallow chamber. He should go and learn how his predecessors uphold the sanctity and made people oriented laws aimed and bringing good governance and dividends of democracy to the people.
‘Martins Amaewhule is the worst Speaker Rivers State has ever produced.
May he and his likes never happened to Rivers State again. A speaker who have reduced himself to a puppet, taking others from a minister before acting. It is a shame. He added.
Recalled that the Rivers State House of Assembly have served impeachment notice to the Governor, Sir, Sim Fubara and his Deputy, citing constitutional breach and gross misconduct.
