… as Minister of Health, Prof. Pate inaugurates new Heamodialysis centre in Yenagoa

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has directed the immediate completion of the abandoned 500-bed hospital in Yenagoa within the next 6 months.

Governor Diri who was speaking at the inauguration of the new Haemodialysis centre and General Outpatient Hospital at the Bayelsa Medical University, Yenagoa, directed the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe, to bring proposal and memo on the 500 bed hospital for his immediate approval.

“This hospital began with my predecessors. It was initiated by the first civilian governor of Bayelsa State, Late Chief DSP Alamieseigha, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan built on it, while Senator Seriake Dickson converted it to a Bayelsa Medical University.

So, when we took over, we invested so much in the hospital and University. We have added more buildings, classrooms and sick bays.

I hereby direct the Honourable Commissioner and the Vice Chancellor of Bayelsa State University to make this hospital fully operational in six months time. Whatever it will take for this hospital to be functional in six months time, bring it for my approval,”~ Gov. Diri said.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, who inaugurated the Dialysis centre commends Governor Douye Diri for investing in the health and well-being of Bayelsa people.

The Minister of Health said he was touched by the respect Governor Douye Diri accorded to all his predecessors and appreciates the governor for building on what they have done in the hospital.

Prof. Pate assures of more synergy between the federal government and Bayelsa state government for the health needs of Bayelsans and Nigerians.

Dignitaries at the event were the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrujakpo, Rt. Hon. Fred Agbedi, member representing Sagbama-Ekeremor Federal Constituency, Hon. Marie Ebikake, member representing Nembe-Brass federal constituency, Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei, member representing Southern Ijaw federal constituency, Speaker of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Leader of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday Obolo-Bubou, Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe, Vice Chancellor of Bayelsa Medical University, Prof. Dimie Ogoina, Secretary to the State government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, House of Assembly members, Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, and other top government officials.
