Guild of Editors Holds 3-Day Conference In Yenagoa As Diri, Information Minister, Others Grace Occasion

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, today graced the opening ceremony of the 3-day national conference of the Nigerian Guild Editors holding in Yenagoa with a theme, “Economic Growth and Development Strategies In Resource-Rich Country.”

Governor Diri, in his remark harped on the importance of the media in a healthy democracy, stating that integrity and building trust with the public are key in the profession.

He said: “Integrity remains the cornerstone of your profession, building trust with the public and fortifying the foundation of a healthy democracy.

Economic Growth and Development Strategies in Resource-Rich Country, your theme for this conference is both relevant, timely and very apt,” Governor Diri stated.

President Bola Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, said that the President was willing to provide media owners business support and urged the practitioners to always operate within the code of ethics.

Other dignitaries present were the Deputy Governor of the State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba, Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Mr. Eze Anaba, President, Nigerian Guild of Editors.
