Wide jubilation as the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission DESOPADEC, has begins desilting of drainages and canals in Oil Producing Communities in the State.
Reports has it that residents of the various Communities are commending the Managing Director of DESOPADEC, Chief Festus Ochonogor, Chairman, Olorogun John Nani, the Board Directors and Commissioners for bringing relief to oil Producing communities with such laudable projects.
The ongoing intervention on the de-silting of drainages and canals by DESOPADEC is aimed at mitigating the adverse effect of flooding in the Commission’s mandate areas.
The ongoing exercise has witnessed steady progress on site with pay loaders, tipper trucks and men working round the clock in evacuating massive waste and debris from the drainage and Illegal dumping sites across the state .
The massive evacuation of the waste and debris to approved dumping sites is a sign of relief to residents of oil producing communities as a result of the environmental health hazard it posed to the people.
