Established to provide relief and succour for students of Delta State origin, the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board though with good intentions and visions, has been rocked with myriads of issues and problems that has led to several students protests, unrest as a result of unpaid bursaries and scholarship. This to a very large extent has painted the bursary board black in the eyes of the ordinary Deltan most especially the students community.
This lingering impasse has been inherited by successive administrations keeping the students community hopeless without succour or aid from their State Government.
However, darkness doesn’t reign forever but for a short while. It is said that suffering begets sweetness. When light comes, darkness couldn’t comprehend.
It is Biblically said that when the righteous rule, the people rejoice. The incursion of Rt. Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori as the Executive Governor of Delta State rebrand, reprint and light up the hope of Delta State students by the appointment of a technocrat, strategist, seasoned administrator and an advocate of peace, Amb Shedrack Lucky Agediga as chairman of the board.
Agediga’s triumphal entry into the board has Chairman, changed the narrative. The once moribund and hope-dashed board became the talk of the state with prompt attention to student matters.
Payment of bursary became a reality with the first payment done and now the second on its way, with over 32, 000 Delta students worldwide.
Student unrest, carrying of placards and protests over unpaid bursaries became a thing of the past.
The administration of the board became effective with each dutifully carrying out their functions for the delivery of the mandate of the M.O.R.E Agenda.
This great feat has made the National Association of Delta State Students, NADESSU, to pay Amb Shedrack Lucky Agediga a visit and commend him for his leadership foresight and sagacity cum his good works in putting smiles on the faces of Delta students.
Agediga’s likes are still very rare in our contemporary society, hence, deserves massive commendation and applause.
He’s likes needs to be recommended and given higher responsibility to continue to better the lives of people and brought tremendous development to society.
Taking history back to memory lane, Amb Shedrack Lucky Agediga who serves has Executive Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, DESOPADEC changed the narrative and make the commission an envy of the state by ensuring projects are not just sited but completed fully.
DESOPADEC effect in the riverine became very evident, real and tangible.
Agediga is engraced with giving a touch of excellence to institutions and commissions considered failures or doesn’t meet up the demands of the people inline with their vision. He is a focused, foresight and intellectually balance personality haven’t bagged two Masters degree to himself.
Agediga should be recommended and given higher responsibility in Government to make Delta State a leading light in the Committee of State.
