Nigeria Customs Intercepts 40ft Container of Guns Going to Southeast Region

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Monday, July 17, 2023, revealed that it intercepted a 40-foot container load of g¥ns at Ports and Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) and Tin-Can Island Port heading for the South East region of the country.

The discovery was made during a joint inspection exercise between Customs, Nigeria Police, the Department of State Security (DSS), and the National Drug Law Enforcement and Administration (NDLEA).

According to Daily Trust, addressing journalists in Lagos on Monday, the acting Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Bashir Adeniyi said the discovery was through the dedication of officers and men of the service.

He said after a thorough physical examination of a 40ft container conducted on July 5, 2023, “The examination revealed the concealment of 10 dang£rous arms and various rounds of live amm¥nition inside plastic drums.
