The National President of South South Youth Initiative, Comrade Imeabe Oscar, on Wednesday, 10 May, in a Press Statement lamented that the out-going governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has not done any meaningful project in Ogoni-land, compared to what he has done in Port Harcourt Local Government (PHALGA) and his own local government, Obio/ Akpor.
Comrade Saviour in his press statement said; ” It should be known to rivers people and Nigeria at large that the outgoing Governor of Rivers State is yet to carried out any tangible project in ogoniland. Governor Wike has few days to stay in office and yet he has not done meaningful project in ogoniland.”
“The Ogoni people have sincerely supported his government in the state and has pass through rigorous insults due to the support of some ogoni elites.”
“The road tagged, Bori/ Saakpenwa road, is wrong, because the road was dualized because of the Andoni, Nkoro, Opobo, Oyigbo and the Bonny people and not only the Ogonis.
all the key projects worth billions of naira are concentrated in just two local government areas in the state.”
“Even in political appointments and elective positions, Wike has not been fair to the Ogoni people,the governor of Rivers state is yet to take into cognizance the support and contributions of the Ogoni people to his government, where in some cases, some lost their lives during the election that brought him in as Rivers state governor.”
He used the medium to remind and inform the outgoing Governor of Rivers State to do something about the his high level of neglect to the ogoni people and emback on a virgin project for Ogoni people before leaving office…the ogoni has contributed immeresely to development of Rivers state and Nigeria at large.
